We were exhausted when we arrived in the remote village. It took 2 days of hiking up the mountains and camping in the forest so that we could witness this breathtaking view. It was all worth it. All the memebers of our group started singing with joy, that's how cheerful and satisfied with our accomplishment we were. Right away we started taking pictures of the locals and their clay houses. It was as if we went back in time. They actually lived like 500 years ago. Mexicans are very welcoming so we were served a traditional dinner: tortillias made of wheat flour and chili sauce. It was the most delicious food I had ever tasted in my life. Someone had the idea to build a fire outside so we could exchange stories of our journey and find out what the locals valued the most in life. As they spoke about how important it was to maintain traditions and pass them on to the young, butterflies gathered around the fire. The atmosphere was like a scene taken out of a fairytale. Never before in my life had I been so happy to have accepted my friend's invitation to join him in this expedition. I learned about what was truly important in life: learning about people and understanding their nature. This lovely memory of our trip will remain with me for the rest of my life and I shall treasure it.
