The pelicans are large water birds. They have a long beak and a large throat pouch used to catch prey. There are 8 species in total. They mostly live inland and coastal water where they feed with fish. They hunt cooperatvely and travel in folks. Because of the pollution they can easily be covered in oil. In ancient Egypt they were associated with death and afterlife. The pelicans can live from 10 up to 25 years.
